After 0.77's release a few people noticed that the non-PM skins weren't quite as bright as before, particularly with certain combinations of other settings.
Therefore, we've decided to release a small update which restores them to the previous brightness before the upcoming WSVG finals. We've also taken the opportunity to add a new crosshair, and tweak a couple of small issues in the menu.
Q4max 0.77a can be downloaded as an update for an existing 0.77 installation, or as a full release which does not require 0.77. Note that as 0.77a is a media only update, the version number displayed by server browsers will not change.

Well it seems that Q4max really have done a very good job on improving Q4 in terms of visuals, accessibility, and general features. One of the most interesting is that avinetdown now outputs a better quality of video.
As an example, ashr on www.esreality.com has posted an example video. It really does show off the quality of the game which is not often conveyed in the various streams.

After a slightly longer wait than planned, we are pleased to release q4max 0.77.
Multi-pov
The most significant addition is the implementation of a multi-pov mode which allows spectators to view all members of a team at once. Coaches will be able to get a complete view of their team, Freezetag players will be able to view the surviving members of their team when they become frozen. Multi-pov is not restricted to teamgames though - it may be used in a duel to watch both players at once.
TDM
In addition to multi-pov coaching, this release includes a number of improvements for the teamgame experience, such as display of average team ping, and for players to lock and readyup their team without a referee.
Demos
There are also a number of changes for demo playback too. There is new functionality to improve the process of capturing AVIs from netdemos in Quake 4. There are also controls for demo playback to make it easier to skip through the demo.
Server demos have been updated significantly - the "follow" and "multipov" commands can now be used as if you were a real spectator, as well as allowing the scoreboard to be viewed at any time, and many more issues fixed.
Keep in mind there are still some stability issues with serverdemos, so admins should think carefully before routinely recording them. This release also comes with Mac OSX support - Mac players now can connect and play on the same servers alongside Windows and Linux users.
The full changelog is in the wiki - there are far too many changes to mention here. As normal, Server admins should remove 0.76b, but clients can leave it installed.

Today at 17:00 EEST starts the Quakecon 2006. There are very talented players participating the Quake4 tournaments.
Radio iTG and GGL.TV will be covering the tournament.
Seeds for the 1on1 and 2on2 tournaments have been released.

New version of ra4 was released few weeks ago. It's still on a beta stage but it's getting more and more better. More info at here.

Also the x-battle team has released a new version of their mod. It comes with many changes and many bug fixes. Xbm 0.23 had q3 enemysounds so those were removed and they released a fixed version of xbm. Xbm 0.23 fix has the Q4 v 1.2 support.

The q4max team has released a new version of their competion mod. Mod comes with many new changes but it needs the q4max 0.74 version to work. Q4Max 0.74b has the Quake 4 v. 1.2 support!
This release replaces q4max 0.74a, but is still an incremental change on top of q4max 0.74. Therefore, servers and clients need all 3 pk4's from 0.74, and the new 0.74b pk4. Servers should remove the 0.74a pk4.
Here's few of the new changes:
* chg: autoaction now stores screenshots in the screenshots/ directory.
* chg: Show a message in the chat window when someone disconnects.
* chg: g_clientprojectilecolision marked as archive, so now stored in configs automatically
* fix: bug relating to animations not loaded on the server, causing warnings and then state errors.
* fix: health/armor no longer decreases at all during a timeout / pause.
* fix: respawn minimum / maximum time no longer affected by timeout / pause.
* fix: (Performance) a little more HUD tweaking.

Raven and ID software has released a new patch to Quake4. It comes with few new changes and it's basically the point release 1.1 with few new changes. You can grab the patch from here.

The league will either be 5 or 7 weeks (divisions of 6 or 8). This will be confirmed closer to the time of the league. All of the games are to be played on the servers Q4.Jolt provide, at prefixed times and days (which will depend on which division you are in).
The maps chosen will also be chosen closer to the time. We will decide on a diplomatic vote, listening to our users (you!) - this will be closer to the time. Mod chosen: X-Battle (v 0.22).
Days Played: Tues & Weds (Div 4,5,6 Tues, Div 1,2,3 Weds).
Times: 19:00, 20:00, 21:00 (GMT) (Time for each div TBC).
Game Type: 4v4 Team Death Match (TDM).
Point Release used: 1.2 Final.
IRC Channel: #q4.jolt (idle! - #joltq4dml now redundant).
Head Admins: Oxi and Kleeks.
Signups close: 6th of May. This is the perfect opportunity for any clan across Europe to play in the only server-providing Q4 League at the moment. For details on how to sign your clan up, go to this page here. The signups will close on the 6th of May.
